How about Soergels losing all their greenhouses. They are not going to rebuild. My husband said, wouldn't insurance cover the damage? I feel so bad for Randy and all of them. They are going to buy plants and baskets from other greenhouses for spring.
We dug our driveway, then the elderly lady across the street. Her son shows up a day latter with a snowblower after four of us spent over four hours on it. I finally got to my dad's on Sunday after the neighbors dug the street out. Their whole neighborhood has not seen a plow. That's Ross Twp. for you. They don't care about their section of the township...but they came out again two weeks ago and whacked huge branches off his Bradford Pear tree.
I am sure your main road was open Doug since they are based off your road. If my dad had a fire or had a heart attack they would never have gotten in to help. The streets there still look horrible and now we are getting more snow for the next two days. I tried to get my dad to come over to my house but he is ready to be snow bound again.
Okay...I vented enough. I went out today and made a doggie trail the entire way around my house for our dog. It was so funny watching run laps on it. Now I have to dig a path to the wood pile...that's tomorrow.

I'm glad I bought my husband a snow plow for his 4 wheeler 2 winters ago. He's very popular in the neighborhood about now. He's like posessed when he gets out there... I had to mark my flower beds with driveway markers to keep him out of them. We've got trails all over the yard! Looks like more coming tonight. Stay safe everyone.

Friday night, one of the two township cinder/plow trucks slid into the ditch across the road about 9 PM. They worked for a couple of hours trying to get it out and eventually gave up. They put up a 'Road Closed' sign. Next morning we saw that it had hit the electric pole and splinted it. Allegheny Power showed up (as we shoveled) and put a temporary patch on it. And in the afternoon, the twp guys showed up to work again at getting the truck out, and it still took a couple of hours. But eventually they got it unstuck and got back to work on the roads. They looked pretty good on Sunday. Maybe they should head down to Pittsburgh and show em how to do it? Sounds like the city roads need some help.

We are weathering fairly well. We got about 25 Fri-Sat. Boys and I dug out the car on Sunday. Ventured out Monday to Bank/PO/Grocery a bit.
Shoveled the walk this afternoon again. My sons have done it a few times today too.
Car is still buried. School for my children and for myself are cancelled again for tomorrow.
Soon to shower and get out of these flannel jammies and go find a clean pair of flannel lounge pants to get into.....then back to sewing and watching dvd's since we have no satillite right now.
Thanking God for electricity and heat...otherwise we are fine.
Hoping everyone is careful out there.
